Frequently Asked Questions

🛏️ How do I enable sleep tracking?
  1. Open the Health app on your iPhone
  2. Tap Browse at the bottom
  3. Select Sleep
  4. Tap Set Up Sleep and follow the prompts
  5. Make sure Track Sleep with Apple Watch is enabled
🤔 Why don't I see any sleep data?
Common reasons and solutions:
  • No Apple Watch: Sleep Animals requires an Apple Watch with sleep tracking
  • Sleep tracking disabled: Check Settings → Sleep → Track Sleep with Apple Watch
  • Watch not worn: Make sure you wear your watch to bed
  • Low battery: Charge your watch before bed (needs at least 30%)
  • First time use: It may take one night to start seeing data
🦄 What do the different animals mean?
Each animal represents your sleep quality:
  • 🦄 Unicorn: Perfect sleep (8-8.5 hours)
  • 🐻 Bear: Great sleep (8.5-9.5 hours)
  • 🐱 Cat: Good sleep (7-8 hours)
  • 🐰 Rabbit: Early bird (6-7 hours)
  • 🐨 Koala: Long sleeper (9.5-11 hours)
  • 🦥 Sloth: Very long sleep (11+ hours)
  • 🦉 Owl: Night owl (4-6 hours)
  • 🦝 Raccoon: Very short sleep (<4 hours)
📊 How is my sleep animal calculated?
Sleep Animals uses two key metrics:
  • Sleep Duration: Total hours of actual sleep (not just time in bed)
  • Sleep Efficiency: Percentage of time actually asleep vs. time in bed
Your daily animal is based on last night's sleep, while your weekly animal considers your 7-day average and consistency.
🔒 Is my sleep data private?
Yes, completely! Sleep Animals:
  • Never sends your data off your device
  • Doesn't require an account
  • Has no servers or cloud storage
  • Only reads from Apple Health when you open the app
